lyrics

There's a house just up the road (around the block, next to the park) where they've been snorting coke in rows (it's where the kids go after dark). I left some good friends there, and now I'm just a little bit scared that they don't see themselves in the mirror anymore. We were fine church-going lads just a few years back. Well, tell me what went wrong. Our sobriety's all gone. I hear you're shooting up, and I'm as drunk as a skunk. Yeah, just one more cup and it'll come up in remembrance of this place that I loved. Does it still love me? And, that's not to say that we're old, because we're young, maybe too young to know it. And, your actions, they're resung by children. You're a hero to the lost, kid. With open eyes, see who you're affecting now. The girl with the pigtails. The boy with CDs out. Students out for the weekend or a night on the town. You say, "Got to get a gun. Got to keep what I won. Got to get what I deserve down near the street corner. There's a door there where I've got business left to run. I've got to run! Or else, I don't know if I'll make it through" We're letting our blood go bad and all those times we've had, well, they don't mean shit if we don't remember it. With alcohol, (We've got coke for the kids and heavier things for those experienced) I'm seeing sadness that I never thought I'd see.
