Like an indifferent crowd...I'll scream even louder to get your attention.

Ballad of the Blind Man

Woke up to the sound of jackhammers thundering through the window, singing it's your cue...So, get up...You must face the day...This stranger's floor isn't cozy enough to keep these sad songs away...Then, feeling much better in Indiana with the stars shining above my head, I remembered thinking distinctly of a boy who'd just met me and the somber things he'd said...Like, "Without God I'm nothing...I've got no reason for living...Success would not be sweet"...But, I don't believe he saw those stars above...Because with visions like these, my only feelings for life can be love...CAN BE LOVE!...I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's sad to ask for anything...because I've asked too...and it hurt me to think that he would choose not to say anything...not to say anything at all.

Mother Nature
02:51
|
|||
Like a severed limb...the boy lost his shadow...and he cried, "Oh, Father, how long have we lived in these man-made times?"...We're wasting our lives...With flourescent lights...and white walls hiding our nature...our savior...or our doom...as we resume...our plastic love affairs...our electric futures...Years go by...Father walks to work...If it feeds his family, it can't be bad...They march to work...If it feeds their families, it can't be bad...But they're building white walls with flourescent lights...They've been bulldozing fields all through the night...and in the next scene...the boy returns grown...finding concrete where once stood home...A chapel that hums...High voltage...A generation of knowledge...The congregation...The altar...We've recreated the Father...Mother Nature bows to the microchip.

The Straying Atheist

Some days I wake up with the sun shining down on my face, and I wish and I pray that I’ve been given this day by some higher being for some purpose that I won’t understand but still will serve.

Living on Theories
05:58
|
|||
So, you've been wasting your life on books and assignments...just false preparation for a future unknown...and when life was lesson...and practice made perfect...you were constructing theories at home and alone...where it's safe and not a challenge...Without competition it's not hard to excel...Thoughts meant to be whispers are sung out over the crowds...in hopes they'll reach the heavens and somehow work everything out...Whispers were heard ascending up to the heavens...But, there are no responses...You'll be packing your things again...Drive on like a salesman...You have nothing to sell...You're buying everything...Living on theories because truth can't explain it...It's a change of situation when peoples are going to war...and your father's (grandfather's) life could also be yours...Or, by death may you differ...By falling may you fail...You have nothing to sell...You're buying everything...Living on theories because truth can't explain it.

If mankind wrote a letter, what would his people have him say?...Would he address it up to heaven and beg for all his people to be saved?...And, then would he get it back, the letter returned to sender...the postage not fully paid?...God's messenger...a miscreant...One chosen to deliver acts so ill-behaved...Don't you see...that mankind is a bag-lady...wandering city streets in search of heat or a bite to eat?...May she never go hungry...Or, so goes the scripture, but those words will never feed her...So, with the letter returned to sender...would the message left inside then be erased?...Or, would the words just be reversed and then message itself just increased?...For it's been said about God's work...that when it's not done by God it's done by people...There's a man standing outside those doors...He's banging on the window...begging, "People! People! People!...Don't you see that mankind is a bag-lady...wandering city streets?...She wakes in dreams...communicates in screams...and speaks to herself when she's lonely...but if there's one thing that she must learn...she must learn to feed herself....She must learn to feed herself...We must learn to feed ourselves.
